Wall socket of recessed, earthed model. Classic model in Sweden from the 1930s onwards. Same outer shape as our wall switches in black bakelite. Fits in both old and new recessed boxes. Bakelite is a moulded synthetic resin characterized by excellent dimensional and temperature stability, and with an enormous insulating capacity against electric current. Bakelite began to replace porcelain electrical accessories in the early 1930s. Older bakelite is brown, brown-black or black, but from the 40s and 50s it is also available in white.
