The model was common mainly on exterior doors, but also appeared on interior doors. The print is accompanied by a key plate, known as a long plate, in the same style, slightly curved and with a “hammered” surface.

The Villagatan door handle is a typical interior door fitting from the 1890-1920 era, a time when great care was taken with interiors, details and materials. Note, for example, the ebony-imitation wooden handle, the beaded rim that encompasses the handle as if it were a goldsmith’s work, and the well-cast end knob where the row of beads is repeated.
