Type of paint: Sludge paint for outdoor use made from pigment, stone ground rye flour and water. Linseed oil added in all colors except Red Ochre.

Characteristics: Lightweight. Opaque. Easy to renew and maintain.

Suitable for: Unplaned timber, old or new. Adheres best to timber and sawn surfaces. If you want to paint on planed surfaces, these can be left unpainted for a year so that the wood surface has time to rise first. Excellent on previously sludge-painted surfaces. Sludge paint also adheres to gutters, valve grilles, list covers and other details of galvanized sheet metal. Leave the sheet unpainted for one or two winters first, and the paint will adhere better.

Consumption: One liter is enough for 3-5 square meters on a normally absorbent surface. Note! Expect a 25 percent increase in the actual facade area of an unpaneled log house or a house with a thick cover strip panel. When repainting, two coats are usually required. When repainting, one is usually enough.

Colors: The paint is available in about ten basic colors. The basic colors can also be mixed together to create other shades. Unlike the other colors, white sludge paint should not be painted unbroken, as it quickly becomes ugly as it ages. Before any color change, the surface should be scrubbed clean of loose pigments and paint layers, preferably with Gysinge’s paint wash and rinsed with water.

Gloss: Matt.

Durability: First time 5-10 years. When repainted 10-15 years.

Thinning: Not normally needed. However, sometimes the paint may be too thick in the can. Then you can dilute with water to normal consistency.

Tools: Horn sucker or painting brush.

Drying time: Normally 1-2 hours. Overpaintable after 24 hours at the earliest.

Storage: Cool but frost-free. If stored for a long time, the paint may thicken. The paint may mold if the jar is left open for a long time.

Brush wash: Water and linseed oil soap.

Manor yellow

Linseed oil paint manor yellow

In the 18th century, yellow became the color of the new mansions and it also became common on the plastered buildings of the cities. Of course, in the 19th century, the common wooden houses followed suit. When the color red became too common to confer status, wealthier city dwellers chose to clad their houses in wood paneling and linseed oil paint them yellow with grey details. At first, only the street facade might be painted, but eventually the whole house was painted yellow, while the outbuildings often retained their fake red color.

Traditionally, yellow houses were painted in a milder yellow color than what we often see today. With tradition in mind, we have therefore developed a manor yellow color that gives your facade a beautiful, warm and soft feeling.

Nearest NCS S 2020-Y20R. Please note that the nearest NCS for manor yellow differs slightly from the actual color. The color reproduction on the screen is also not 100% accurate. We recommend that you buy a small can of paint and try it out before you decide on a larger project.

Linseed oil paint Green Umbra Natur

Unbroken 100% is often used for thresholds, for example. However, it is usually broken with white, which gives warm gray, pearl gray or marble white colors, which was common in the 18th century. Often used in glazing.

At last, linseed oil paint with real earth color pigments!

It is the linseed oil paint that has preserved and embellished Sweden’s buildings for centuries. Linseed oil paint was a matter of course, both indoors and outdoors until the 1960s. If you want to renovate in a sustainable, natural and beautiful way, then Linseed Oil Paint is No 1.

We can now proudly present three new colors of linseed oil paint made from the finest earth color pigment imaginable. Green Umbra from Verona, Red Ochre from Roussillon and French Golden Ochre.

A linseed oil paint pigmented with genuine earth color pigments gives an extra dimension to the painted surface. Made from clay soils that have been washed and bleached by nature itself over thousands of years, they are produced in the same way today as when oil paint was introduced to our northern latitudes centuries ago. Natural clay pigments such as golden ochre and red ochre are muted and vibrant at the same time, giving the natural color tone a perfect balance for old and new houses.

While developing these new colors, we have also improved our linseed oil paint. In collaboration with Kerstin Lyckman, Sweden’s only doctor of historical oil paints, we have developed our paint, which now has better coverage and longevity and is also more historically accurate. Back to basics!

Linseed oil paint Jugendgrön

Jugendgrön is a color that was common both externally and internally from the 1890s until the 1930s.

Externally, it is often seen on window frames; internally, it is a very common color on the fixed kitchen furniture and in the kitchen and hallway as a wall color. Jugendgrön is therefore closely associated with beadboard panels in particular, but it was also often used on furniture. As a color, it can be described as a light chrome oxide green, but yellower and at the same time a little brighter green. In interior painting at the beginning of the 20th century, it was often combined with Jugendbeige on linings, windows and doors, but a darker color, about 7-15% unfired umber, is also a common contrast color to Jugendgrön.
