The exception was bedside lamps in bourgeois homes and on the larger farms. Sometimes there were also wall lamps in the farm offices. Bedside lamps were also found in old boarding houses and hotels. The model for our lamp comes from a farm in Dalarna. The original is probably made in the 1910s. The material is black iron and the workmanship of very high quality.

Shoemaker lamp small green shade white cord

The cobbler’s lamp was one of the first indoor electric light fixtures.

The model became common as ceiling lighting in all rooms in simpler homes from the 1910s onwards, however in wealthier environments it became the standard luminaire for less lavish rooms, such as hallways, kitchens and maids’ rooms.

The lamp provides nice and soft spot lighting and is suitable for smaller spaces such as windows.

All metal parts are made of heavy, polished, unlacquered brass. The shade is green with white inside and is made of hand-blown opal glass.

A specially designed cable strain relief relieves the cable so that it does not carry the entire weight of the luminaire. As an extra accessory, for a contemporary ceiling connection, a porcelain ceiling bracket with a wooden base plate is available, both with and without grooves.
